We are actively involved with supporting the Tumaini Fund and many of our shows help raise funds for this cause. Please read on to find out more obout how you can help support this charity in Tanzania.
Tumaini means hope in Swahili.
Kagera is the North-West province of Tanzania, bordering Uganda to the North and Rwanda to the West. It is an area of extreme poverty: a subsistence farming family of 6-8 has an average annual income of only £55.
HIV carriage is estimated at 27% of the population, up to 1 in 3 women of children bearing age.
When the father dies of Aids the mother often becomes too sick herself to farm the small-holding: an estimated 200,000 children in Kagera are now innocent victims of starvation and disease because one or both of their parents are unable to provide for them.
This is so wrong. Jesus is their hope as well as ours. We must show them Jesus and his love now. For some of them tomorrow will be too late.
For £1 per week, we can feed, clothe and educate a Kageran child, through a dedicated child sponsorship line, so that £1 given in Britain can be the £1 that the child will receive in Tanzania.
A separate fund for donations will service the work and will finance the welcome package given to each child on entering the programme of: a mosquito net, two sets of clothes, a school uniform, books and pencils so that they can start school. This package will cost £10 for each child.
How to respond. Sponsor a family
For £ I a week you can support an only child, for £4 per week a family of four, £7 a family of 7. Please do what you can to release them to live in what God promises in Jeremiah Ch29 v 1
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, Plans to prosper
You and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future
Lets restore the hope that the widows and orphans of Kagera should have. Lets show them the love of Jesus.
